​Journal of Information Literacy - new issue Vol 7, No 2 (2013)

The latest issue of JiL is now available, it's a bumper issue with papers from LILAC 2013, book reviews, conference and project round ups and new articles.  I've listed just a selection that caught my eye.

Included in the conference corner is:

• an interview with information pioneer Paul Zurkowski who coined the term information literacy in 1974. Next year is the 40th anniversary sowatch out for celebrations.
• a report on the first European Conference on Information Literacy (ECIL) by Maria Bell and Marion Kelt

Included in project round ups are reports on:

• Information literacy in public libraries by Jacquie Widdowson and Darren Smart,
  
• Chat Literacy: Reflection on approaches and methodology towards setting up a community of practice on information capability in an international context by Emma Rachel Greengrass

Among the articles are:

Rebecca Mogg, former Membership Secretary, is their new Deputy Chair. Ruth and Cathie will continue their roles on the Journal of Information Literacy.

The committee have two vacancies that they would like to fill:

• Sponsorship and Outreach Officer
• Programme Officer

Applications should include a curriculum vitae and a personal statement, including relevant knowledge and experience, explaining why you are the best candidate to contribute to the organisation of the LILAC Conference. You must also provide a letter of support from your line manager.  The closing date for the application process will be the 26th August.

The Journal of Information Literacy (JIL) is looking to recruit a Book Review Editor to their editorial team. Cathie Jackson says

"JIL is a successful peer reviewed  journal, published under the Gold Open Access model, by the CILIP Information  Literacy Group. If you would like to be considered for the role, which is in a  voluntary capacity, please write a brief personal  statement (no more than  500 words) indicating your ability to undertake  the activities listed in the role description and how you meet the   person specification. These are available at http://www.informationliteracy.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/ilg_jobdescription_jil_bookrevieweditor-July13.doc.
