CILIP Information Literacy Group events for Global Media Info Literacy Week

 As part of UNESCO's Global Media and Information Literacy Week (24 – 31 October 2018), CILIP ILG is coordinating three events with Library and Information departments at three UK universities.

With free events taking place in London, Manchester and one led by IL CoP member, Jacqueline Geekie in Aberdeen, please join in for networking, lively discussions of the new CILIP Information Literacy definition and a range of talks, highlighting emerging directions for IL research and practice in a range of contexts.

UCL Department of Information Studies on Monday October 29th 2018 (6pm - 8pm).

A range of talks from Jane Secker, Charlie Inskip and recent UCL Library and Information Studies Masters' graduates, highlighting emerging directions for IL research and practice in a range of contexts.

Manchester Metropolitan iSchool on Thursday October 25th 2018 (5.30pm – 7.30pm).

Geoff Walton and guests will discuss the latest research which addresses this question.

CILIP Information Literacy Group and Journal of Information Literacy news

Some news items you may or may not have seen regarding the CILIP Information Literacy Group and its Journal.

Welcome! to new committee members who are:
Nancy Graham – Chair
Andrew Walsh – Secretary
Rowena Macrae-Gibson – Membership Secretary
Dan Pullinger – Website Manager
Nicola Scott – FE Representative
Claire Packham – National Library Representative
Geoff Walton – LIS Representative

Rebecca Mogg, former Membership Secretary, is their new Deputy Chair. Ruth and Cathie will continue their roles on the Journal of Information Literacy.

The committee have two vacancies that they would like to fill:

  • Sponsorship and Outreach Officer
  • Programme Officer

General information about working on the LILAC committee and the specific job descriptions can be found on the LILAC website: http://www.lilacconference.com/WP/join-the-committee/.

Applications should include a curriculum vitae and a personal statement, including relevant knowledge and experience, explaining why you are the best candidate to contribute to the organisation of the LILAC Conference. You must also provide a letter of support from your line manager.  The closing date for the application process will be the 26th August.

The Journal of Information Literacy (JIL) is looking to recruit a Book Review Editor to their editorial team. Cathie Jackson says

"JIL is a successful peer reviewed  journal, published under the Gold Open Access model, by the CILIP Information  Literacy Group. If you would like to be considered for the role, which is in a  voluntary capacity, please write a brief personal  statement (no more than  500 words) indicating your ability to undertake  the activities listed in the role description and how you meet the   person specification. These are available at http://www.informationliteracy.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/ilg_jobdescription_jil_bookrevieweditor-July13.doc. Please send this personal statement, together with   a CV, to me, at JacksonCM@cardiff.ac.uk  The deadline for applications is Monday 26 August 2013."
